The MercedesTrophy Drives Golf in Vietnam

The popularity of the MercedesTrophy in Vietnam is unlike anything even the best promoters of the  game could ever imagine.

With prizes to Europe and Australia plus 34 chances to win a hole in one luxury car, the amount of participants have tripled to 6,000 golfers within the last four years. The majority are recreational golfers who are members at more than 30 golf courses which have sprung up around the country in the past decade.

Each year thirty golf clubs participate in the MercedesTrophy by entering their annual club championship where Mercedes-Benz is the exclusive automobile partner. Golfers who are passionate about the brand they drive are grouped in a Mercedes division, which allows the best players in the category to advance to the Country Finals hosted by Mercedes-Benz.

True to it’s the slogan ‘The Best or nothing”eight of the best Mercedes-Benz finalists are then awarded with an unprecedented all expenses paid business class trips to Scotland and the Asian Finals in Australia compliments of the brand and its co-sponsor Glenmorangie.

What is the MercedesTrophy?

The MercedesTrophy is a unique series of premium golf tournaments. This year marks the 25th anniversary. With over 60,000 recreational golfers from more than 60 countries participating each year, it is the world’s most prestigious and by far the largest corporate golf events. Each country hosts their own independent qualifying tournaments and then a Country Finals. The best players are selected from their Country Finals to advance onto their Continental Finals. The top  players who are Mercedes-Benz owners advance on the World Finals in Stuttgart Germany.

Vietnamese golfers have displayed great affinity for the MercedesTrophy along with the glamorous prizes offered by Mercedes-Benz and its partners including Glenmorangie Single Malt Whisky. The MercedesTrophy remains popular at golf courses throughout the country. Now in its 11th year in Vietnam, members from all golf clubs participate each season with over 4,000 golfers actively playing.

Over 400 Mercedes-Benz owners were invited to the Country Finals last season. From the Country Finals the best players advanced to the Asian Finals in Australia in August. The winners teamed up with other Asian countries to compete in September at World Finals in Stuttgart, Germany.
